Some of them act, some sing, but they have one thing in common – a passion for fashion. We check out celebs who have ventured into designing.JLo has been in the fashion biz for about seven years. She first launched a clothing line in 2003 by her own name, and two years later, launched a new clothing line. In late 2007, she was behind a new juniors’ collection. Her fashion collections have featured at many New York Fashion Week events.
Britney Spears
The Circus singer, who was signed as the face of a popular fashion brand last year, is now designing a limited-edition collection of apparel and accessories for teenagers. The singer recently tweeted about her new venture, saying, “At my photo shoot for the limited edition collection I designed for them as well! I think you guys will love it!”
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay launched her clothes line in 2008. She started designing leggings and then went on to do a full collection. The actress, however, has run into trouble in this venture. Photographer Scott Nathan is suing Lindsay, alleging that she hasn’t paid him for pictures he took for her fashion line.
Dannii Minogue
One would think that expectant mother Dannii Minogue wouldn’t have time for much else, what with juggling her careers as a singer and as a judge on a talent show. But she is making her foray into the world of fashion with her line along with designer Tabitha Somerset-Webb. “We will do the hard work and get the details on the dresses right, so all you have to do is enjoy them,” she said.
Victoria Beckham
Posh has walked the ramp and endorsed big designer names and was a guest judge on a fashion reality show. Her own collection debuted during the 2008 New York Fashion Week, and it got rave reviews from critics. “I don’t want to make dresses that will date. I’ve always been about clever buying,” shes said.
Justin Timberlake
He made the transition from boy band member to solo singer, and now he’s collaborating on a fashion line. JT and his best friend Trace Ayala have teamed up for a premium denim collection. It’s a fusion of Hollywood glamour and the singer’s southern roots, and has been favoured by Vanessa Minnillo, Cameron Diaz and girlfriend Jessica Biel.
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen
The twin sisters started off with a clothing line for tweens but whatever they touch seems to turn to gold. They have to their credit a shoes and jewellery line and now sunglasses. Mary Kate admits, “Designing eyewear was definitely more complicated than we thought.” Either way the girls are sure going places.
